Should You Pick Belle or Wise?
Choose Who You Prefer
Players are presented with Belle and Wise, with one of them taking on the main protagonist role: Wise is the male character, while Belle is the female character in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ).
In the Japanese version, Wise is called Akira while Belle is called Rin. Both play more of the support role to the Agents who are at the front lines when it comes to commissions. Feel free to pick which one you would like to use more.

Belle and Wise are Not Playable in Combat
Contrary to other Hoyoverse games, choosing the main character here will mostly not matter in gameplay. Both Belle and Wise are not playable Agents, as they are instead Proxies that hire Agents for commissions!
Only Controllable in Main Hub
The only time players can get to control Wise or Belle is going around the main city hub! This is where they can interact with locals and Agents around the area!
Notable Changes Upon Choosing
Dynamic Wallpaper
Upon accessing the Main Menu for the first time, players will have the option to change their Dynamic Wallpaper, which they can show off their Proxies or Agents that they unlocked.
Both Belle and Wise's wallpapers are automatically unlocked, however the featured one already used in the Main Menu will be your chosen Proxy between the two.

Wise Runs Faster than Belle
Because Wise is taller than Belle, he takes much bigger steps compared to his sister. This confirms that Wise moves somewhat faster than Belle, especially while running.
For those that want to Reroll, it might be recommended to choose Wise as your Proxy to shave off a few seconds per reroll attempt.

Chosen Character's Bedroom is Accessible
The chosen Proxy's bedroom in Random Play will become accessible to the player! This location is also featured in their respective Dynamic Wallpapers, giving players a preview of what it looks like from the inside.

Chosen Character Is Prominently Featured
Whoever the players choose between Wise or Belle will be the featured Proxy that shows up in most of the cutscenes in Zenless Zone Zero. As also mentioned above, they also become the playable Proxy while in the main street hub.
Whoever Is Not Chosen Helps in Sidelines
The unpicked character between Wise and Belle will take on a supporting role to the chosen Proxy, helping in the sidelines. They can also be heard during the tutorial, guiding the chosen character as players learn the different mechanics featured in ZZZ.
Can You Change Between Belle and Wise?
Sometimes During Story Cutscenes
There will be times that the player will be able to control their unchosen sibling, should your chosen Proxy be currently occupied with something else.
Temporarily Exit Hollow Exploration
While doing Hollow Exploration on an uncleared commission, you can temporarily leave by accessing the Main Menu.
Doing this locks your chosen Proxy in front of the HDD as they are technically still busy with it. This will then allow you to momentarily take control of the other sibling.
